Third Charity Music Festival at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Moscow on Saturday 1 September.

On Saturday 1st September, do not miss the 3rd Charity Music Festival at the British Ambassador's Residence in Moscow!

The same two local children’s charities as last year will benefit, already officially affiliated to the British Embassy. Like last year many of the benefiting children will be attending the event.

(i) The Lighthouse Home; Russia’s first hospice solely for terminally ill young people.

(ii) The Centre for Curative Pedagogics; a shelter for children with various needs abandoned by families.

The event will be held in the Residence garden rain or shine in order to ensure up to 500 attendees; please come dressed appropriately for the weather conditions on the day. I’d also recommend a cushion or blanket to sit on rather than folding chairs which would need to be placed at the very back of the garden, there is also only limited room in which to do so.

Online Payment:

For the first time this year event payment can be made easily online via the link here Those doing so will attract an additional 5% surcharge (so a 2500 RUB ticket will cost 2625 RUB/1000 ticket 1050).

Online payment system registers the name of the person paying. All names attending should be sent to Stephen McCracken at as an obligatory for the Guest List to the Residence till 29 August!!!

Please see the reports below from the two benefiting homes on the wonderful assistance they were able to provide with last year’s receipts. Just over 700,000 RUB gross, 625,000 RUB net, was raised last year, the simple aim this year is to raise a million.

Very grateful thanks to the increasing number of corporate sponsors - Rosinter Restaurants for providing all the food and soft drinks, Voskevaz Winery for the wine, Dok and Dan for the beer and for the coffee. Prices charged will be cheaper than the equivalent restaurant/bar prices, the coffee will be free of charge all event.

Duo RO – their first Residence appearance, a brilliant virtuoso duo. Olga Egorova is the best mandolin player in Russia, third generation from a small village north of Moscow where the entire village is brought up to play the mandolin. Currently headlining European summer festivals.

Bad Bimbos – one of my favourite Moscow classic rock bands featuring Anastasia Kontsevaya and Yuri Novrogodsky, covering a range from Joni Mitchell to Led Zeppelin.

Nash Albert – a combination of great self-written songs in the Brit pop style and covers.

Backstage – a combination of high class swampy blues and soul.

The Lunar Brothers – they headlined the first Residence event in 2016, featuring Yuri and Sergei Voronov, Moscow’s “rock star” who has recorded with Keith Richards, Gary Moore and the Blues Brothers. Great crunchy classic rock.

All the bands will be featuring British themed music in their sets to reflect the event surroundings, this year a new state of the art sound system is also being used.

In addition to the running order above:

17:30-1745: performance by the Centre for Curative Pedagogics “Moonberry Jam” jazz band, comprised of teenage outpatients and young volunteers.
