Simmons Gainsford are hiring a bookkeeper

RBCC member firm, Simmons Gainsford, are currently hiring for a new bookeeping role. The role will provide the opportunity to be part of a small, friendly team providing comprehensive support to a varied portfolio of clients. This role is reporting into the Bookkeeping and Accounts Manager.


• Input and review data
• Review and maintain sales, purchase and general ledgers
• Post and review month end journals
• Advise managers of any outstanding issues
• Complete and review VAT returns
• Maintain a full and accurate audit trail by filing and referencing documents
• Liaise with other departments such as Payroll
• Travel to and work from client sites
• Prepare and review management accounts
• Complete each assignment before passing to the manager for review
• Ensure a high level of service to meet client’s expectations
• Ensure that all hours worked on assignments are correctly recorded
• Training and supporting more junior members of staff and clients



• Previous book-keeping experience in an office environment
• Client facing experience is essential
• Previous experience of working on site at client premises
• Numerate and analytical with excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Experienced in dealing with a varied and busy portfolio of clients - must have dealt with 10 or more clients
• Proven experience of building and maintaining client relationships
• Ability to self-manage time and workload to ensure deadlines are met
• Intermediate/advanced Excel skills
• Previous experience of using accounting software


• Previous experience of Xero software
• Extensive knowledge of VAT

This is a highly deadline-based role so, at times, flexibility on hours in peak times will be required
