Established in 1984, HealthProm began as a USSR-UK Medical Exchange Programme set up by doctors and allied professionals to promote health education through tours, conferences and exchange visits. We have since extended from working exclusively in health care to include a focus on the social care of vulnerable children and their families. HealthProm uses its network of professionals, contacts and partners to promote improvements in maternal and child health and to deal with the problems of institutionalised and disabled children in countries of the Former Soviet Union and, more recently, Afghanistan. HealthProm champions two fundamental human rights: the right to health as an attainment of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and the right children have not to be separated from their parents. Our vision is a world where each mother and child has secured the right to a healthy and socially included life.
